High School Curriculum

Our Instructional Vision – In order to ensure every child is college ready and college bound, we will work relentlessly to develop the skills necessary for college success. Specifically, we will produce students who have the ability to engage in analytical reading and writing, critical thinking, and mathematical and scientific problem solving. We will produce articulate speakers, respectful community members, informed and responsible citizens of our school and community. We will produce young adults, who set ambitious personal goals, create a plan to achieve them, and reflect on their personal progress.

College Prep Coursework – The Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy High School is designed to prepare students for acceptance into a four-year university. As educators, we know that a strong academic foundation in high school prepares students to be successful in their higher education endeavors. To receive a diploma from Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, the student must fulfill those requirements as designated by the Nevada State Board of Education as outlined in the Nevada State Content and Performance Standards. In addition to meeting the Clark County School District and the State of Nevada graduation requirements, Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy High School educators require students to create a four year plan that includes additional courses that prepare them for college. Most colleges and universities are looking for students who have successfully completed the following sequence of classes:

EnglishMathScienceHistoryForeign LanguageVisual/Performing ArtsAcademic Elective
4 years 4 years 4 years 3 years 3 years 1 year

1 year

In addition, students will take PE, Health Education, Government and Computer Applications to meet the CCSD graduation requirements. If students complete the sequences above, they will earn 24.5 credits by the time they graduate. This rigorous curriculum offers students the opportunity to become more competitive in higher education and the workforce, and to be prepared to take full advantage of what the world has to offer beyond high school.

For the class of 2012 and beyond, the four year plan will look close to the description outlined below. Each student’s interests and academic goals are considered part of the scheduling process.
