Counseling & Mentoring
Agassi Prep provides extensive school guidance counseling for social-emotional, academic and behavioral concerns that may arise for students. Our school guidance counselors are available to assist students to build productive work habits and help in conflict resolutions with behavioral and academic strategies. The goal is to provide students with positive role modeling and experiences that promote individual growth and support in their daily lives. School guidance counselors work with students on a referral basis either from teachers, administration or CST referrals.
Guidance Curriculum
The High School Guidance Counselor delivers a Comprehensive Guidance Program to all students in grades nine through twelve as well as assist with the middle and elementary schools in a manner that meets the developmental needs of the student. This program contributes to the overall academic success, career goal setting, college information and personal/social development from elementary to high school and into the student’s beginning college years. The program is delivered through individual counseling, small and large group counseling, consultation, and coordination. It includes such topics as grades/study skills, individual planning in career exploration, college awareness, decision-making, personal responsibility and personal health/ safety.
How student meet with their counselor: Students may see the school counselor through:

Individual Planning
All students are required to meet with the guidance counselor at least once per year to create and review the student’s four year academic plan. The intent of the four year plan is to ensure students are taking the courses needed for college readiness and high school graduation. The high school guidance counselor provides individual or group assistance with educational planning and career exploration:
- 9th -12th grade pre-registration information such as course selection
- Review graduation requirements
- Included is a review of the number and types of credits needed for graduation. Students meet at least once per year to work on their four year academic plan.

- Transition or Individual Education Plans
- Student and parent conferences to address educational and career planning
- Student, teacher and parent conferences regarding student grades/failure
- School Orientation for beginning freshmen
- 10th -12th grade conferences to review student graduation status and to interpret the standardized test scores from High School Proficiencies Examination and review college/post secondary, scholarship, financial aid and career information.

Responsive Services
The High School Guidance Counselor provides students with counseling services, either individually or in groups. The counselor addresses relevant adolescent issues as a result of the student, teacher, parent, community administrator concerns, or for crisis response.
Student concerns include the following:

- Peer relations
- Progress or the lack of toward graduation
- Schedule issues or changes
