Dottie Smith
High School Principal

Dottie Smith earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from American University in Washington, DC. Upon graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to teach in the Compton Unified School district. Here she developed a love of teaching and learned first-hand how influential a teacher can be in a child's life. Next, Smith joined the staff of Teach For America as a Program Director, where she worked to train and develop high school teachers. In this role, she worked with teachers of all content area, including special education. When she left Teach For America in 2007, she was the Managing Director in Los Angeles, leading the regional team. Smith received a Master’s degree in education and her teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University, and also earned a second Master’s in school administration from the University of California - Los Angeles. Before coming to Agassi Prep in 2008, Smith was the Assistant Principal at a charter school in Los Angeles. Smith was born in Connecticut and loves to run and compete in triathlons. She was the first in her family to go to college, and believes each and every AACPA high school student has the ability to shine in college and beyond.

Uchenna Cissoko
Middle School Assistant Principal

Uchenna Cissoko joined Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy in 2007 as a middle school mathematics teacher.  She also assisted with SAT and Math Proficiency tutoring for high school students.  She was promoted to the position of Assistant Principal of the Middle School in August 2008. Prior to AACPA, Cissoko worked with the Knowledge is Power Program to found a KIPP Network School in Buffalo, NY.  She began as a Fisher Fellow in 2002 and worked as Principal of KIPP Sankofa Charter School until May 2007.  While working,  Cissoko completed her Master's Degree in Education Administration from National Louis University.  She has been active in the charter school movement with the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO), and previously served on the Board of Trustees for the National Alliance of Public Charter Schools.

Jenny Tan
Elementary Principal

Jenny Tan graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with an undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science.  After college, she taught second, third and fifth grades at an elementary school in Pasadena, CA.  With a desire to make a greater impact in education, Ms. Tan joined the Teach For America staff where she worked as a Program Director supporting new K-5 teachers throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District.  Her experience as a classroom teacher as well as a Program Director propelled her to move into school administration.  Tan earned a Master's Degree and a Principal/Assistant Principal License from the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University.  She has been a school administrator at Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy since 2006.  Tan was born in a small country in Southeast Asia called Burma and she loves to cook and read. She is passionate about making the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy the best school in Clark County, then in all of Nevada, and finally in the United States.
