"Sibling" qualifications: A sibling is defined as a natural sibling, with both children sharing the same parents; a half sibling, in which both children have a parent in common and live in the same primary residence; a step sibling, in which the parents of both children are married and the children live in the same primary residence; and adopted children who live in the same primary residence. In the case of foster children, this sibling preference would apply to the inclusion of related siblings within the household. In a group home situation, only those students chosen through the lottery and their related siblings, if they have applied, would be included in the sibling preference.
A parent will be required to show proof that the new applicant fits one of the definitions by showing a birth certificate for each child (in the case of natural and half siblings), a custody order (in the case of step, half siblings, foster), as well as proof of the child's residency, either through prior school records that indicate where the child lives or other documentation.
